Fayez, Russian ambassador discuss investment, trade opportunities

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Sunday met with Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov to discuss regional issues, bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Fayez pointed to the importance of working together to confront the pandemic and ensure the return of regional security and stability. 

He stressed the necessity to bolster investment and increase trade between the countries. He called to open the Russian market to Jordanian exports and agricultural products, reduce fees for entering the Russian market, and remove any obstacles that may hinder the activation of bilateral agreements related to the economy, tourism and investment.

The meeting also focused on the latest developments in regard to the Syrian crisis.

Fayez called on the major countries sponsoring the peace process to push for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, in accordance with international resolutions to achieve the two-state solution.

The Russian ambassador affirmed his country's pride in its relations with Jordan, pointing to the efforts to develop and build on them in various fields. He described the Jordanian-Russian relations as “solid” and “based on mutual respect”.
