Fayez, Greek minister of culture talk cooperation

AMMAN — Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez on Wednesday met with Greek Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. During the meeting, attended by Greek Ambassador to Jordan Eleftheria Galathianaki, the two sides discussed bolstering cooperation in the field of tourism through protecting and rehabilitating artefacts, developing tourism-promoting websites and exchanging experience in museum management.

They also focused on cooperating to identify and classify replicas of artefacts through holding several joint workshops. Fayez said that Jordan possesses great expertise in the field of tourism, highlighting the importance of enhancing intra-tourism and increasing the number of Greek tourist groups to Jordan.

The Greek minister referred to her country’s expertise in the protection, maintenance and rehabilitation of artefacts, noting that the Jordanian Department of Antiquities will be provided with three books on Jordan, published by a Greek archaeologist.

There are 216 public and 23 private museums in Greece, all of which are under the management of the Greek Ministry of Culture, she said, expressing willingness to share her country's experience in management of museums.
