AMMAN — Planning and International Cooperation Minister Imad Fakhoury attended the 29th ministerial session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which was held in Doha last week, according to a ministry statement released Saturday.

The session, titled “implementing sustainable development plans and challenges on the national level”, discussed obstacles that the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 could face in Arab countries, and the impact of conflicts and occupation on the progress of the agenda. During the session, Fakhoury outlined Jordan’s roadmap to implement its 2030 sustainable development agenda.

He called on the international community and donor countries to continue supporting the Kingdom’s budget, the Jordan Response Plan to the refugee crisis, and provide concessional funding to mitigate the impact of conflicts in neighbouring countries. Attendees commended Jordan for hosting Syrian refugees and serving them on behalf of the world.
