AMMAN — The Agriculture Ministry on Friday decided to suspend the export of potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and zucchini.

According to Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Shahahdeh, 400 tonnes of poultry and 500 tonnes of dairy products had been supplied to markets, in addition to 2,300 tonnes of vegetables and fruits and 500 tonnes of bananas to the central market, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister noted that the central market was opened on Friday to receive vegetables and fruits, adding that price ceilings were set for commodities.

The Amman livestock slaughterhouse will be opened next Sunday under the supervision of 23 veterinarians, the minister said.

Shahahdeh also emphasised the ministry's operations to sterilise markets and other areas within the capital’s city limits.
