AMMAN — Chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) Hussein Labboun denied allegations that electricity prices had recently increased, stressing that the 2015 tariff is still in force for the household sector.
Labboun said that the increase in power bills is attributed to the increase in electricity consumption in the current winter season, which recorded its highest load in the Kingdom’s history of 4,010 megawatts, according to a commission statement.
He added that complaints of higher electricity bills happens regularly in months of higher or lower temperatures in summer and winter, due to the fact that subscription moves to higher categories of consumption.
