AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Sunday sentenced an Egyptian national to seven-and-a-half years of imprisonment and a JD5,000 fine for smuggling 200,000 captagon pills to Saudi Arabia, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

The man, who worked in a stone-cutting factory, hollowed some stone blocks and hid the pills inside them.

He then rented a shipping truck to send the blocks to Saudi Arabia, where he was caught and referred to the SSC’s prosecutor, in accordance with an agreement between the Jordanian and Saudi security forces.

Arrested in December 2015, the defendant was found guilty of trafficking a narcotic substance for the purpose of trading it.
