Education Ministry, SSC sign agreement to ensure rights of private education employees

AMMAN — The Education Ministry and the Social Security Corporation (SSC) on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on ensuring the rights of workers in private educational institutions and easing procedures related to licences and approvals for the work of these institutions.
Education Minister Tayseer Nuami and Director General of the SSC Hazem Rahahleh signed the agreement, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Under the agreement, the Education Ministry will renew the annual temporary licences of private educational institutions without requesting clearance from the SSC.
The ministry is also committed to endorsing the private educational institutions’ employee lists when making sure that the institutions have completed all procedures for covering employees in the social security law.
The Education Ministry will also provide the SSC with the employee lists and electronic and paper copies, as well as update the corporation on any changes related to the lists, to be approved by the ministry and the Jordanian Teachers Union.
The ministry will also facilitate the SSC’s work in implementing the memorandum.
The SSC will conduct inspection tours at private educational institutions to verify the validity of the provided data, as well as provide the ministry with the names of SSC retirees, who are not eligible for post-retirement employment without contacting the SSC.
Nuaimi and Rahahleh highlighted the importance of the agreement in providing social protection for workers in private educational institutions and ensuring their right to social security, Petra added.
