AMMAN – Flamenco duo Ekaterina Zaytseva and Marta Robles, better known as Duo Del Mar, recently held a concert at Al Hussein Cultural Centre in Ras Al Ain, concluding their visit to the Kingdom where they were giving music classes to local artists.

Flamenco consists of song, dance, and guitar music, often associated with southern Spain and can be traced back to the Middle Ages.

The Spanish Embassy in Amman and Instituto Cervantes organised the concert on Wednesday.

Zaytseva is a classical guitarist and music teacher, and Robles is one of few female solo flamenco guitarists in the world.

“We are so happy and grateful to be in Jordan and to share our music with you tonight,” Robles told the audience as they kicked off the concert.

Their music is a mix of flamenco, classical music and rhythms from South America.

The duo released their first album several years ago, and toured Europe after its release. Dúo Del Mar have also played at festivals such as the Lisbon Flamenco Festival and the Voll-Damm Jazz Festival.
