Djibouti offers to facilitate entry of Jordanian exports to East Africa

AMMAN — Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on Monday received Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Jawad Anani, who handed him an invitation from His Majesty King Abdullah to attend the Arab summit in March.

During the meeting, Anani conveyed His Majesty's greetings to Guelleh, who voiced his willingness to participate in the pan-Arab high-profile meeting, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Djiboutian president praised Jordan's achievements and its role in reaching regional security and stability.

Anani and Guelleh discussed bilateral relations between Amman and Djibouti City, where the president highlighted his country's willingness to boost economic cooperation with the Kingdom.

In this regard, Guelleh called on Jordanian businesspeople to visit his country, which, he said, can serve as a logistics centre for the Kingdom's produce bound for East African markets.

Anani also met Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, Djibouti's minister of economy and finance, and stressed the importance of boosting commercial, investment and logistical relations between both countries through agreements that would serve such a purpose.

Anani visited the new port in Djibouti, which is scheduled to be inaugurated soon, and the railway connecting Djibouti City with Ethiopia's Addis Ababa, Petra reported.

The minister has delivered similar invitations from King Abdullah to Comorian President Azali Assoumani and Iraqi President Fuad Masum. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh has delivered invitations to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
