Deal secures benefits for restaurant, sweets shop employees

AMMAN — The Labour Ministry on Monday announced the signing of a joint agreement between the Jordan Association for Restaurants and Sweets Shops Owners and the General Trade Union for Workers in Public Services and Free Vocations.
The agreement aims at granting some 120,000 worker in sweets shops and restaurants a number of benefits and giving Jordanians priority in work. The agreement covers rules and regulations in the workplace, working hours and holidays, and social security.
Under the deal, the association commits to paying employees no less than the minimum wage and calculating the official inflation rate when deciding on annual salary increases.
