'Dams' storage stand at 115.5 million cubic metres'

AMMAN — The Water Ministry's Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) on Sunday announced that the precipitation has raised the long-term annual average to 55.3 per cent, reaching approximately 8.1 billion cubic metres annually. 

In 2023, at the same date, the long-term annual average was 39.7 per cent, the ministry said, adding that 4.5 million cubic metres of water entered the Kingdom's dams in the past the past 24 hours. 

It also said that the 4.5 million cubic metres have raised the total storage in the main dams to 115.5 million cubic metres, representing 40 per cent of their total storage capacity of 288.128 million cubic metres.

 The highest recorded rainfall in the past 24 hours was 15.8mm in Amman/Khan Al Zabib, the ministry said.
