Customs department reports JD1.5b in 2019 revenues

AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department on Saturday said that it collected JD1.5 billion in tariffs and fees in 2019, almost the same as the figure reported in 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to data released by the department, a total of 6,700 smuggling attempts were thwarted in 2019. Furthermore, a total of 2,700 units of different types of narcotics, including captagon, opium, cocaine, hashish and tramadol, were seized.

The department also noted that it has procured and installed 10 X-ray scanners at various entry points.
