AMMAN — The Health Ministry’s epidemiological investigation teams on Tuesday began conducting random RT-PCR coronavirus tests at ministries and public and private institutions. Director of Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health Hadeel Al Sayeh told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, in an interview that the procedure is part of the ministry’s plans to expand testing, “to be reassured” on the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom after the resumption of work in the public and private sectors.
“The tests are in line with the national efforts to combat COVID-19, curb the spread of the virus and ensure early control of any hotspots or spread,” she said.
Sayeh indicated that the targetting of workers in the public and private sectors for testing is due to the nature of their work as they directly deal with the public, adding that the number of daily tests had been raised to about 10,000, outstripping international levels.
