Construction on Azraq road first phase begins

AMMAN — Public Works Minister Sami Halaseh on Thursday opened the first phase of the 42 kilometre Al Azraq road, in the presence of the Ministry’s Secretary General Ammar Gharaybeh. The first phase, which makes up 40 per cent of the total 105km four-lane project, will comprise of construction works at the intersection of Al Jafar Road, according to a ministry statement.
The remaining 63km will be completed over several stages in the next four months, Halaseh said, noting that the project was funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The road will be named in honour of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz for his contribution to the implementation of this regional road, according to Petra.
