Cabinet stabilises bread prices until end of 2023

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday decided to stabilise the prices of bread until the end of 2023, amid a global spike in wheat prices, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to the decision, prices will remain at JD0.40 for small pita bread, JD0.32 for large pita bread and JD0.35 for Arabic bread (Mashrouh) per kilogramme. According to official figures in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, the government subsidised wheat at a rate of JD254 per tonne during the month of October.

The Cabinet also approved the executive plan of the 2019-2025 National Youth Strategy. The strategy includes seven main objectives: Education and technology, active citizenship, participation and active leadership, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, the rule of law and good governance, security and community peace, as well as health and physical activity.

According to the plan, 55 projects and 89 major activities will be implemented during 2022-2025 by the relevant ministries and institutions.
