Cabinet reviews progress of projects funded under Gulf grant

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed a report on the progress of development projects financed by the Gulf Corporation Council’s (GCC) grant to Jordan.
The report, prepared by the economic development committee, suggests a number of measures to increase the amount of spending and improve work on the projects.
The Cabinet also approved a recommendation by the Services and Infrastructure Committee to implement a 52 megawatt solar power project in Maan by an American company with 20 per cent of the construction to be given to a local contractor.
In addition, the Council of Ministers approved a recommendation by the foreign minister to transfer Jordan’s ambassador in Tripoli Fawaz Aitan to the ministry’s headquarters.
Moreover, the Cabinet decided to appoint Awn Khasawneh, Hamzeh Haddad, Ibrahim Omoush and Omar Al Jazi as members in The Hague’s Permanent Court of Arbitration, replacing those with expired membership.
