AMMAN — The Cabinet on Monday approved measures to present a one-time support to tomato farmers in Southern Ghor, in light of high production and low prices in the local market, as a result of low exports to traditional markets.
The Council of Ministers agreed to allow the only factory that works in tomato pastes to receive the surplus amount of 33,000 tonnes of the produce, and support the transport costs from production areas to the factory, with a total cost of JD1 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The JD1 million will be secured from the Agricultural Risk Fund.
