AMMAN — The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved a series of procedures to limit the rise in the prices of basic commodities in the local market.
The Cabinet agreed to impose ceilings for sea freight costs for the purpose of calculating taxes and customs duties until the end of 2021 to ensure that this measure is reflected on the final price of the consumer product.
A defence order will be issued for this purpose, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The measures include strengthening market control to enable the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply to take the necessary measures to set price ceilings on basic supply commodities when needed, Petra, reported.
The Cabinet also decided to speed up procedures for implementing projects that enhance food security in the Kingdom and support the agricultural and livestock sectors.
