AMMAN — Police on Monday said they arrested a man in connection with a fight in an Amman neighbourhood that left one person dead and two others injured a day earlier.
The suspect was reportedly involved in a brawl with three other people and "ended up stabbing them all leaving one person dead in Ashrafieh neighbourhood", Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
"The suspect stabbed the three men and one of them died shortly after being rushed to hospital," Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The two other victims were also rushed to a nearby hospital and were listed in fair condition, according to the police official.
Police said they were questioning all parties to determine the cause of the brawl, according to a statement by the Public Security Department (PSD).
A postmortem conducted at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (NIFM) by a team of government physicians headed by the NIFM Director Adnan Abbas, including Issa Gheishan and Saif Hamarneh, indicated that the victim died of multiple stab wounds to the neck, a senior medial source said.
"The 30-year-old victim's neck was slashed… and it caused an internal bleeding that caused his death," the senior medical source told The Jordan Times.
Police said they are still investigating the incident, according to the PSD statement.
