Belgium, EU ambassadors hail Kingdom’s efforts in regional stability

AMMAN — Ambassadors of the European Union to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, and Belgian Ambassadors Serge Dickschen emphasised the importance of Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah in bringing peace and stability to the Middle East and the strategic partnership with the European Union.

The meeting, hosted at the residence of the Belgian ambassador in Amman, was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, along with officials, ambassadors, businessmen, journalists, and other invitees.

Belgian ambassador hailed the efforts made by Jordan under the guidance of the King, highlighting the support of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation and the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, and the contributions from Belgium and other countries through airdrop operations.

The ambassador affirmed that Jordan continues to be a key player in the region and a strategic partner for the European Union, noting that Belgium, in conjunction with other member states, persistently calls for an unconditional and sustainable ceasefire and unhindered access to humanitarian aid.

The EU ambassador emphasised the Kingdom’s crucial role in regional stability, praising the efforts of His Majesty in propelling peace initiatives and the economic and political reform programmes in Jordan.

Toukan underscored the significance of the Jordanian-European partnership on various fronts, including investments and support for the refugee crisis in the Kingdom

She also stressed the need to bolster bilateral partnerships in areas such as joint trade relations, water challenges, infrastructure, financial management and other logistical issues.
