AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Monday participated in an emergency session of the Arab Council of Ministers of Social Affairs to discuss the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
Bani Mustafa, during the virtual event, stressed the need for self-restraint, an end to fighting, and a return to dialogue, calm, and adherence to the political framework agreement.
She also emphasised the importance of collective efforts to address the social, humanitarian and economic aspects resulting from the current situation in Sudan, particularly the impact on vulnerable groups such as women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Bani Mustafa highlighted the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to evacuate Jordanians and other nationals from Sudan, noting that the Royal Jordanian Air Force has dispatched eight planes since last month for evacuation efforts. One of the planes carried eight tonnes of humanitarian and medical aid for the International Red Cross as part of the emergency response, she noted.
