Authorities thwart smugglers on Syrian border, seize pills, hashish

AMMAN — A military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, said that the Eastern Military Region, in close coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and Military Security, on Wednesday thwarted the smuggling of large quantities of narcotics in the area separating the Jordanian-Syrian borders after detecting five individuals trying to infiltrate the Kingdom.

Security personnel applied the rules of engagement, forcing the infiltrators back into Syrian territory.

A search of the area resulted in authorities finding 602,000 Captagon pills and seven palm-sized sheets of hashish, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported
