Amman hosts Arab Union’s judiciary meeting

AMMAN — The Arab Union of Administrative Judiciary’s fourth general assembly meeting kicked off on Wednesday.

Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Cassation Court and Judicial Council President Mohammad Ghazo inaugurated the two-day conference, noting that the meeting was a continuation of a series of meetings and symposiums related to the union.

The Kingdom’s constitutional amendments, made in 2011, have played a crucial role in improving administrative judiciary law, which has contributed to developing Jordan’s judiciary and expanding its terms of reference to ensure speedy and safe procedures to achieve justice, Ghazo said.

Head of the Egyptian Council of State Ahmad Abul Azem said that holding the conference in Amman came in line with the notion of establishing a union based on joint action, praising the Kingdom’s experience in strengthening its administrative judiciary.

Abul Azem added that the meeting aimed to solidify the concepts of justice and equality through the judiciary, noting the important role of administrative judges in bolstering security, stability and equality.

Established in 2015, the Arab Union of Administrative Judiciary consists of supreme administrative courts and councils of state from 15 Arab countries, and Jordan has headed the union since 2018.
