Ambassador meets with Jordanian PhD students in China

AMMAN — Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Chen Chuandong on Wednesday virtually met with Jordanian PhD students enrolled in Chinese universities with funding from China's Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and discussed views on Chinese-Jordanian cooperation and students’ role in promoting it.
The talks were held during a webinar, which witnessed the participation of diplomats, journalists and academics. The diplomat stressed the "strategic" Jordanian-Chinese relations and the "distinguished" partnership in various fields, highlighting the improvements achieved at various levels.
The envoy said that the pandemic has affected Chinese-Jordanian cooperation, pointing out that bilateral trade dropped by 10.3 per cent in the first 11 months of 2020, noting that China's imports from Jordan increased by 2.62 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also added that a total of 2,800 Jordanians participated in Chinese-funded training programmes in 2019, including 50 PhD and master's students.
