Ambassador hails ‘remarkable’ increase in Georgian-Jordanian economic ties

AMMAN — Georgian Ambassador to Jordan Zaza Kandelaki stressed the importance of the shared interest of Jordan and Georgia to further enhance their “distinguished” bilateral relations. 

During a press conference, he said that there is a “remarkable” increase in the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries, where the Georgian embassy is exerting efforts to boost investment opportunities on both sides, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The ambassador referred to the existing educational cooperation between the two countries, and the possibility to increase the number of scholarships granted to Jordanian students given the importance of the role of the youth in enhancing ties between the two nations. 

Kandelaki said that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, is considered a main player in the region as well as the world in realising peace and stability.

He also noted that Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has awarded His Majesty a high medal in recognition of his role in bolstering friendly relations between Jordan and Georgia, as well as his efforts to promote peace regionally and internationally. 

The diplomat expected the number of Georgian visitors to Jordan to reach 100,000 annually after the completion of the Georgian cultural centre at the Baptism Site.

Kandelaki noted that stability in the Middle East is the key to stability in the entire world, and that his country supports all peaceful solutions to wars.

He also said that Georgia is focused on reaching a peaceful solution in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali through finding common ground in order to preserve the territorial unity of Georgia.
