AMMAN — Head of the Supreme Islamic Council and the Imam of Al Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Ekrima Sabri on Sunday emphasised the importance of Jordan's role in caring for and supporting Al Aqsa Mosque at all levels, as well as defending it politically through the Awqaf Department in occupied Jerusalem.
In statements to the Jordan News Agency, Petra’s correspondent in Ramallah, Sheikh Sabri said that the coincidence of the extremist settlers' incursions into Al Aqsa during Jewish holidays is “both an old and new” policy, through which extremist groups seek to establish their presence within Al Haram Al Sharif. Access to Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif is a right exclusive to Muslims, he said, adding that “all attempts to Judaise Al Aqsa will fail”.
