Airplane traffic down by 7% in September

AMMAN — Airplane traffic at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in September went down by 7 per cent compared with August, Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief Commissioner Captain Haitham Misto said on Wednesday.

Misto told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that September witnessed a total of 5,266 flights, increasing the total number of flights since the beginning of the year to 31,539. The flights connected the Kingdom with 69 direct international destinations.

Passenger movement in September dropped by 16 per cent compared with August the chief commissioner said, noting that the drop in September of 2019 was 28 per cent.

Misto added that departures constituted 51 per cent of the total number of passengers of around 558,000, noting that the total number of passengers since the beginning of the year reached some 3.078 million.
