AMMAN — The sixth phase of the nationwide cleaning campaign started on Monday in Balqa Governorate’s Eira and Yarqa districts.

Assistant Balqa Governor for Public Safety Affairs Ali Rajibi said that the interaction shown by participants in the campaign has greatly contributed to rendering the campaign a success in all its previous phases, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Imad Hiyari, director of the environment protection department in the governorate, said that the campaign covered the surrounding area of the Prophet Shuaib Shrine and other areas that attract picnickers.

The campaign was also launched in Al Jafr District with a wide participation of official and popular institutions, civil society institutions and local community members, Petra added.

The campaign included cleaning mosques, schools, streets, the public market and several squares inside the district neighbourhoods.

Meanwhile, the Environment Directorate in Tafileh Governorate implemented the sixth phase of the campaign in the Eis area with the participation of young people and students, according to Petra.

The campaign aims at raising awareness on the environmental behaviours of the youth and students, addressing random littering and fighting all forms of pollution, said Hisham Khalafat, director of the environment in the governorate.

The campaign was also launched in the Al Sukhneh area in Zarqa Governorate, where Hashimiyyeh Mayor Malik Kreishan said that the national campaign highlights the values of loyalty to the homeland and aims at enhancing voluntary and humanitarian work, according to Petra.
