AMMAN — A recent study conducted by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) has recommended implementing a system for regulating business opening hours in Amman.
The study proposed a gradual implementation, starting in Amman, where the Greater Amman Municipality, in collaboration with the chamber, would be responsible for setting the operating hours for businesses within the city limits.
The study, conducted jointly by the Chamber’s Policy and Studies Department and the Ad-Dustour Centre for Economic Studies, surveyed 3,000 business owners from 18 different professions and sectors.
The findings highlighted that 60.2 per cent of business owners are in favour of regulated operating hours, while 24.5 per cent have reservations, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
About 50 per cent of those in favour of regulation suggested that these hours should be set according to the specific nature of the profession.
The study also examined various Arab and international nations’ experiences in this field.
