AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) has dispatched five new humanitarian aid convoys to Syria in coordination with the Foreign Ministry and the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

The convoys consist of 35 trucks carrying supplies to be delivered to the Syrian Red Crescent and UN organisations in the affected areas.

In a statement released on Thursday, the organisation announced that the trucks contain blankets, mattresses, food supplies, medical equipment and medicine, according to the needs identified by the relevant authorities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Al Shibli stated that the organisation has been working throughout the week to intensify its support and send aid to the Syrian people in light of the difficult conditions caused by the earthquake.

Relief convoys will continue to be sent in the upcoming days, he noted.

Donations sent to the organisation's bank accounts and in-kind donations at its warehouses are still ongoing, he said, adding that JHCO will continue accepting donations to ensure sufficient support for those affected.

JHCO assistance includes family-sized tents, power generators, supplies for children and the elderly, food supplies, heaters, blankets, mattresses, carpets, handheld flashlights, clothes, shoes, mineral water, medicine, medical supplies, sleeping bags, food containers, respirators, first aid kits, rescue equipment and tools for removing rubble, according to the statement.

Those wishing to donate to JHCO can contact the organisation by calling 065523190, 0795005843, 0791406673, or 0791200838.

Financial donations can be sent directly to the organisation’s account at the Wehdat Branch of Itihad Bank under the name “JHCO”, with IBAN JO21UBSI10300000
