AMMAN — Seventy-six per cent of drug addicts have low scientific backgrounds, and 41 per cent of them are unemployed, Commander of the Northern Region Security Force Brig. Gen. Ziad Bakir said on Tuesday, citing statistics by the Centre for Security Studies.
At a dialogue session in Irbid, organised by the Jordan Nurses and Midwives Association, Bakir said the Public Security Department in 2016 started implementing an anti-narcotics strategy, based on raising awareness of the dangers of drugs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. He noted that the addiction treatment centre dealt with 1,200 cases in 2015.
