AMMAN — The 15th International Congress of the Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOFNMB) and the 4th Annual Conference of the Jordan Society of Nuclear Medicine (JOSNM) have drawn to a close in Jordan.
The congress, held under the theme "Advancing Nuclear Medicine: Precision and Personalized Medicine", showcased the region's flourishing expertise in nuclear medicine, according to a statement from the organisers.
With over 400 in-person participants from more than 40 countries, the event facilitated robust communication and collaboration among professionals in the field.
Throughout the conference, 46 speakers from 34 countries representing leading international organisations and institutions across the globe shared insights and fostered cross-border collaborations on recent breakthroughs in radiotheranostic, nuclear oncology, targeted molecular imaging and therapy, nuclear neurology, and the diagnosis of cardiologic diseases.
In his address, Akram Al Ibraheem, president of the congress, expressed deep gratitude to major partners and collaborators, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Japan Society of Nuclear Medicine (JSNM), the Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine (CSNM), the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB), the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), the Arab Society of Nuclear Medicine (ARSNM), the Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine (ARCCNM), and the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). Their support enabled the presence of an international faculty, elevating the congress to a global platform.
The conference also celebrated the work of 40 young nuclear medicine professionals who received the AOCNMB 2023 Tomio Inoue Award.
Additionally, three outstanding researchers were recognised in the Rising Nuclear Medicine Physician's challenge, underscoring the importance of nurturing talent in the field.
Furthermore, a leading scientific exhibition showcased the latest products and innovations in nuclear medicine. This exhibition highlighted the technological advances driving the field's revitalisation, enabling precise and personalised treatments through molecular imaging and theranostics.
The conference being hosted in Jordan signifies the esteemed status of the country and the significant efforts made by Jordan and the King Hussein Cancer Centre in empowering and advancing the field of nuclear medicine, the statement said.
This is evident in their provision of advanced diagnostic procedures and nuclear therapies, along with their training initiatives for professionals in the Arab region and Western Asia, as well as their contributions to research efforts, concluded the statement.
