AMMAN — A total of 1,300 students applied for university scholarships for the 2014-15 academic year, Wael Smadi, director of the Ministry of Higher Education’s scholarships and agreements department, said Thursday.

According to the ministry, 180 grants are available from Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Tunisia, Hungary, Armenia, Romania and Ukraine in a variety of specialisations, the majority of which are medical based.

Smadi called on applicants from the central region and the special education directorate to visit the ministry next Sunday, and applicants from the Kingdom’s other regions next Monday, requesting they bring their transcripts and passports if available.
