AMMAN — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Saturday launched new water projects in the north, designed to supply the region with an additional 735 cubic metres of water per hour.
Water Minister Hazem Nasser said in a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times that the new projects, which started operating Saturday, are part of the second phase of the ministry’s water plan, announced in July this year.
The plan targets increasing water allocations to the northern region, which hosts hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees.
