AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has extended his best wishes to all Jordanians, and the Arab and Islamic worlds on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

In a message that King Abdullah posted on Facebook on Friday, he said: “I would like to wish my Jordanian people, the Arab and Islamic worlds a Eid Mubarak.”

“During this blessed time, I hope that this Eid brings us safety and tranquillity; that peace, brotherhood and love prevail amongst us and that we focus collectively on creating a better environment for our future generations,” the King wrote.

“It is imperative that today the Islamic world stand united and in solidarity, both in words and in deeds, and continue to demonstrate the true values of Islam; that of tolerance, moderation and respect for pluralism. Happy Eid to all,” the King said.

Eid Al Adha, the feast of the sacrifice, which started on Saturday through Tuesday, marks the end of the pilgrimage season, when Muslims of sufficient means are required to sacrifice livestock in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, to God.
