St. Regis Amman receives ‘Deluxe’ rating

Eagle Hills Jordan added a new milestone to its ongoing successes after one of its hotels received a “Five-Star Deluxe” rating from the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Abdullah Al-Fraihat, executive director of Eagle Hills Jordan, hailed the efforts of the ministry, citing its large contributions to the tourism sector.

“It is our pleasure to receive the “Five-Star Deluxe” rating from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which will contribute to setting a new benchmark for the tourism sector in the Kingdom, he said.

He added that this rating for the St. Regis Hotel is seen as another achievement for the group’s series of successes in Jordan in the real estate development and tourism sectors.

QAIA reaffirms commitment to climate protection

Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has successfully renewed and extended the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Programme — Level 3+ “Neutrality” — until May 2022, according to Airport International Group.

The certification, which QAIA was the first to receive in the Middle East in 2018, was granted as per the amended guidelines issued by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Advisory Board.

In addition to promoting Jordan within the global aviation arena for its pioneering green airport, this step highlights Airport International Group’s commitment to climate protection and its support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As the sole airport to have attained the ACA Level 3+ “Neutrality” in the region, QAIA continuously deploys best environmental practices and periodically updatesi mplemented energy conservation procedures, which led to an 8 per cent drop in the carbon emissions per passenger between 2018 and 2019.

New English school to take part in World Education Week

The New English School has been chosen as the only school in Jordan to be part of the Global Showcase of 100 schools that will gather online to share expertise during the World Education Week, to convene between October 5th and 9th, in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on Quality Education (SDG 4).

The “Make a difference" campaign aims at improving the well-being of school life for students and teachers. The world’s biggest education conference’ enables schools to share their learning experience with a huge online audience.

DHL Express MENA named top ‘Middle East Best Workplace’ 2020

DHL Express MENA has been officially recognised as the best company to work for in the Middle East for 2020, by leading global workplace culture authority Great Place to Work Middle East.

The global logistics business secured a winning spot in the top 50 Middle East Best Workplaces list which represented local, regional and international private and public entities operating in this region, covering a wide industry base from logistics and technology to finance, media, fashion, FMCG, hospitality, healthcare and manufacturing.

The Best Workplaces annual benchmarking study assesses the level of credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within an organisation, with the majority of the score based on the confidential feedback of their employees, while the remaining score is taken from an audit of management and HR practices.

Safwa Islamic Bank, UN Women promote gender-sensitive financial services

Safwa Islamic Bank recently hosted a training programme for the bank's employees focusing on gender issues and financial services, as part of the bank’s strategy to support national efforts towards financial inclusivity and highlighting the central role played by women in the financial sector. 

The training sessions were implemented by Aya Consulting in partnership with UN Women under the programme “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls and Host Communities in Iraq, Jordan”, supported by the European Union, through the EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syria Crisis, the EU MADAD Fund.

“Safwa Islamic Bank has always been aware of the impact gender dynamics have on the evolution of the banking sector and the economic inequalities that can stem from a lack of awareness in this regard,” explains Samer Al Tamimi, general manager of Safwa Islamic Bank. 

“One of our core objectives is to preserve the right of women to equitable and equal access to financial resources, which is why we were eager to host this training programme and to raise the awareness of our employees on the essential connections between gender, inequality and economic inclusivity.”

Orange Jordan honours top Tawjihi achievers

Orange Jordan honoured the students who excelled in the General Secondary School Examination (Tawjihi) across the kingdom in an event that was broadcast on Jordan TV’s"Yised Sabahak” Programme.

The event celebrated the students’ success despite the challenges that they have encountered under the uncommon circumstances triggered by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Orange Jordan offered sponsorship for the virtual press conference of the 2019-2020 Tawjihi results announcement, by providing the Ministry of Education with video conferencing solutions and covering it through its social media platforms.

During the conference, minister of education, Tayseer Nueimi, announced the results, communicated with the students and media representatives and praised Orange Jordan’s active role in facilitating holding the event by providing the ministry with the needed infrastructure.

Orange Jordan granted the outstanding students several gifts. The company was keen to select the gifts carefully to meet the youth’s needs for advanced internet and communication solutions.

Joining forces to promote health & wellbeing
