AMMAN — Minister of Health Firas Hawari on Thursday attended the 61st regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, which was hosted by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani in Baghdad.

Hawari stressed Jordan's ongoing support for Arab cooperation in all health-related fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also highlighted the significance of hosting the Council of Arab Health Ministers meeting in Baghdad, which falls under the framework of boosting joint Arab cooperation in the field of health and discussing the latest advancements regarding regional health conditions, as well as sharing experiences and knowledge in addressing shared health challenges.

The minister also underscored the value of collaboration in addressing health issues, particularly in view of the current regional situation, noting that this includes the necessity of creating collaborative health plans that help raise the standard of healthcare and improve responsiveness to medical emergencies.

The first Arab conference on the role of Arab immigrant health competences in supporting the health systems of Arab countries was held in Jordan last October, and was commended by the Arab health ministers attending the Baghdad meeting.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Hawari attended a trilateral meeting with Iraqi Health Minister Saleh Al Hasnawi and Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to discuss ways that Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt could work together in the health sector.

Hawari commended the "long-standing" ties that unite Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq during the conference, as well as the productive collaboration in a number of areas, including the health sector.
