  • 'Jordan's security, stability above everything, national unity top priority'
  • 'We will not allow any party to bring instability, destruction seen elsewhere into Jordan'

AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Saturday underlined that no one and no country ever has been supportive of the Palestinians and their legitimate rights like His Majesty King Abdullah and the Jordanian state.

Chairing a Cabinet session on Saturday, Hassan empahsised that Jordan throughout the past decades has been always the brotherly Palestinians' number one supporter and the defender of their legitimate rights to self-determination and to an independent state of their own on their national soil.

He stressed that Jordan is a strong nation, united in its people and institutions, and will not tolerate any violations of the law or the exploitation of the people's sentiments for political gains, whether from internal or external forces, especially during this sensitive period.

"While all Jordanians stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, incitement that threatens the security of the nation and its citizens is a different thing completely and will not be accepted in any form and from whoever party," the premier said.

He affirmed that Jordan’s security, stability, and the safety of its people is paramount and protecting the country’s national interest is the top priority, adding, "In the strength of Jordan and its resilience [there is] a strength and resilience for the Palestinian people."

Hassan also said that Jordan will not become a "theatre for chaos or disorder, and will defend its security, stability, and national achievements built over time thanks to the wisdom and prudence of the country's leadership."

"Jordan will not be a place for sedition and gambling and we will not accept risking the future of this country," the prime minister said adding, "We will not allow any party to bring the instability and destruction seen elsewhere into Jordan, trusting in the awareness, patriotism, and unity of its people and their commitment in upholding the national values and the rule of law."

"This is the most important thing for us," he said.
