AMMAN — CEO of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) Ahmad Taweel said that the defence fair received a total of 12,000 visitors on its first day on Tuesday.

He added that the exhibition's permanent location has been established in the port city of Aqaba.

Taweel said that SOFEX has become the leading military technology exhibition in the region, which provides SOFEX with the support and strength needed to further develop for the upcoming 14th edition.

He noted that the exhibition's area has been expanded to around 24,000 square metres to accommodate the increased number of participating companies.

Meanwhile, the "Levitate" conference and exhibition, specialising in drone technology, kicked off on Wednesday as part of SOFEX 2024.

This event marks the first platform that brings together enthusiasts in the drone industry, alongside sector leaders, companies, and government officials.

During the discussion sessions, speakers highlighted the importance of training and qualification, emphasising its impact on enhancing the capabilities of individuals and their readiness for advanced operational drone missions, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.

The director of the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Centre (KASOTC) said that drones have become a fundamental requirement in modern warfare.

The director added that the centre is working on integrating traditional training methods with modern ones, including the incorporation of drones into training, which saves time, effort, and costs, while also speeding up the completion of required tasks.
