AMMAN — The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) launched on Thursday the 9th edition of Tariqi project (My Way), which is aiming to enhance Jordanian youth’s practical and technical training opportunities to bolster their competitiveness in the labour market.
According to a KAFD statement, the activities of the introductory day within the project’s customer service sector, “Taster Day”, kicked off at the Business Development Centre (BDC) for the first batch. The session focused on implementation stages and was attended by the fund’s Director, Mazen Tablat, and BDC CEO, Naif Estitieh.
Tablat emphasised the project’s role in providing job opportunities for youth through skills development, which contributes “positively and effectively” to national efforts in tackling the unemployment problem, in collaboration with the Kingdom’s private sector.
Implemented in strategic partnership with the British King’s Trust International and in cooperation with the BDC, the project targets Jordan’s sectors including communications and information technology, insurance, retail and banking sector, the statement noted.
The statement also added that the training activities are focused on the health sector, hospitality, logistics services, embedded systems using the MicroPython language, green economy-renewable energy and financial technology.
The project, which began its implementation in 2015, successfully raised capabilities of 945 alumni to enter the labor market and provide 503 job opportunities.
