USA supports Jordan’s cyber security programme

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Tuesday, Neuberger underscored the significance of her visit to Jordan, which falls within the framework of the Jordan-US Cyber and Digital Dialogue, where the primary focus of discussions included enhancing cooperation in cyber security.

Highlighting the “longstanding strategic partnership” between Jordan and the US, spanning 75 years, she stressed the pivotal role of cybersecurity as an essential pillar of this relationship, particularly in the face of potential electronic threats to government systems and infrastructure.

The US official highlighted the importance of information sharing on threats and exploring aspects for cooperation to boost cybersecurity measures between the two countries.

A drill will be proposed for relevant authorities to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure against cyber attacks, she added.

Neuberger referred to plans that will be announced to introduce several initiatives aimed at developing cyber security skills among Jordanian youth and investing in their potential.

As for the US contributions in this field, she affirmed her country’s commitment to providing expertise in securing government and military systems from attacks, with a focus on preventing data breaches and system disruptions.

Neuberger stressed the vital role of artificial intelligence in enhancing cyber security, highlighting its capabilities in identifying vulnerabilities in codes that can be exploited.

Referring to Jordan’s advancements in software and technology, the US official praised the Kingdom for its talented youth who enjoy multilingual abilities.

Regarding efforts to enhance international cooperation in cybersecurity, she stressed the need for global partnerships, as cyber threats go beyond national borders.

She highlighted Jordan’s participation in a significant initiative established by the White House two years ago to boost cooperation in the cyber security, adding that this initiative includes 56 countries within Interpol, with active participation from several Middle Eastern countries.
