Jordanian expatriates' remittances surge to $3.2 billion, boosting Kingdom's foreign reserves

AMMAN — Jordanian expatriates' remittances increased by 1.4 per cent, reaching a total of $3.2 billion until the end of November 2023, compared with the same period in 2022. The volume of remittances during the 11 months of 2023 amounted to $3.2 billion, compared with $3.133 billion in the same period of 2022, according to preliminary data issued by the Central Bank. The data also showed a 3.3 per cent increase in Jordanian expatriates' remittances in November compared with the same month in 2022, reaching $313.5 million. Expatriates' remittances, along with tourism income and foreign investment, significantly contribute to the foreign reserves of the Kingdom, totalling around $17.1 billion, Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
