Projects underway to restore archaeological sites in Mafraq

AMMAN  — The Mafraq Antiquities Directorate announced on Wednesday that 13 restoration projects are scheduled to be implemented in multiple archaeological sites in the northern Mafraq Governorate. Imad Obeidat, the directorate's head, said that the initiative aims to maintain and restore the archaeological destinations in the Mafrqa's areas of Umm Jimal, Sama Sarhan and the Islamic site of Qasr Burqu in Ruwaished District, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The Mafraq Governorate Council will allocate JD585,000 from its budget for 2024, noting that the project implementation will provide about 300 temporary job opportunities.
