AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi and US Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues David Satterfield on Monday discussed mobilising efforts to halt the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the war on Gaza.

The officials also discussed safeguarding civilians and respecting international law and international humanitarian law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a meeting in Amman, Safadi stressed that mechanisms must be implemented to ensure an unhindered access for the humanitarian assistance to the besieged strip.

He also said that preventing food and medicines from entering Gaza is a war crime according to the international law and fourth Geneva Convention of 1974 and its protocol.
