JPMC, Turkish Transept company ink agreement for plant in Aqaba

AMMAN — The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the Turkish Transept Company on Tuesday signed an agreement to establish a joint phosphoric acid production plant in Aqaba. 

The $400 million investment will go towards a plant with an annual production capacity of up to 300,000 tonnes, making it the most sizeable Jordanian-Turkish partnership in the field of phosphate and phosphate fertiliser production, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Highlighting the importance of the new agreement, JPMC Chairman Mohammad Thneibat said that partnership will help create hundreds of job opportunities over the next three years during the construction of the plant.

Ramadan Oster, chairman of Transept, expressed his pride in this collaboration and sees it as a strong foundation for further cooperation in this field.  He praised Jordan's advanced phosphate fertiliser industry and JPMC's remarkable growth in production and sales.
