AMMAN — Chairman of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Mohammad Thneibat on Wednesday met with a delegation of representatives from public and private Indonesian companies to discuss potential investments and joint ventures in the phosphate and fertiliser industries.

The Indonesian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of State Owned Enterprises Pahala Mansury, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Thneibat stressed the company’s keenness to develop its partnerships with Indonesia in the phosphate industries as part of its endeavours to create effective partnerships with specialised global companies in the sector.

The meeting, attended by the CEO of JPMC Abdulwahab Rawad and Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Ade Padmo Sarwono, discussed prospects of establishing a joint plant in the city of Aqaba to produce 500,000 tonnes of the NPK fertiliser using phosphate raw materials supplied by the JPMC to meet the Indonesian market's needs.

Mansury said that the purpose of the visit is to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Indonesian companies and the JPMC, explore potential investment opportunities, develop existing relations and increase the size of Indonesian imports of Jordanian phosphate.

Rawad said that JPMC has signed agreements and established partnerships with many international companies over the past few years. This year, efforts have been made to establish plants for producing phosphate fertilisers and phosphoric acid and increasing amounts of exported Jordanian phosphate, he said, stressing the importance of partnering with the Indonesian delegation in this area.
