AND arrested 1,106 suspects in 599 narcotics cases in July

AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel arrested a total of 1,106 suspects in 599 drug-related offences in July, the Public Security Directorate's spokesperson said on Tuesday. During the crackdown, large quantities of drugs were seized, including 71 kilogrammes of hashish, 400,000 pills of Captagon, and 6,000 other narcotic pills, as well as 5.5 kilogrammes of crystal meth, 20 kilogrammes of marijuana, 500 grammes of synthetic hashish, 2.3 kilogrammes of cannabis powder and firearms, the spokesperson said, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra. The PSD official said that the AND also carried out 626 educational awareness sessions last month, including courses, lectures, workshops and seminars in partnership with academic and media agencies, among others. Also in July, a total of 96 people were admitted or referred to the AND-run addiction treatment centre, he added.
