AMMAN (JT) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday called for capitalising on Ruseifa’s vital location to boost the industrial sector, stressing the importance of the private sector’s role in launching projects that benefit the local community and alleviate living costs.

During a visit to Ruseifa and a meeting with a number of leading figures from the district, King Abdullah said Ruseifa is one of the most densely populated areas in Jordan, which calls for doubling efforts to provide quality services to residents, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty pointed to the government’s plans to improve educational, health, and environmental services, highlighting the need to make the best use of the district’s lands, in service of Ruseifa’s residents.

At the meeting, held at Ruseifa’s ecological park, the King commended the progress made on the phosphate hills rehabilitation project, calling for expanding rehabilitation projects to include other areas.

Locally, His Majesty said there is no going back on implementing political, economic and administrative modernisation plans, noting the importance of economic and administrative reform in fighting poverty and unemployment.

Turning to external affairs, the King reiterated Jordan’s unwavering position towards the Palestinian cause, stressing that Jordan will continue its role in supporting Palestinians in Jerusalem and across Palestine, as well as countering conspiracies that target them and Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

His Majesty stressed that “there is no going back on my personal position and Jordan’s position” towards the Palestinian cause, adding that it is “our responsibility” to stand with the Palestinian people and protect them against conspiracies.

The speakers at the meeting commended the King’s keenness to move forward in modernisation across the political, economic and administrative tracks, noting his efforts to defend Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause.

A number of speakers highlighted the needs and concerns of Ruseifa residents, in health care, education, municipal services, and development.

Acting Prime Minister Tawfiq Kreishan said the government has earmarked a budget to support Ruseifa Municipality through the Zarqa Governorate Council, in order to implement projects in education, development, healthcare, and services.

For his part, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi highlighted Royal initiatives implemented in Ruseifa since 2006 at a cost of JD13 million, in education, sports, healthcare, social development, the environment, and supporting productive enterprises.
