AMMAN — Jordan is in preparation to establish an institutional national reference among ministries and institutions concerned with urban development, municipal services and public transportation, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan said on Tuesday. Heading a meeting of the steering committee to adopt the national urban policy, Kreishan referred to the importance of amending regulations to the organisation of cities and villages to address problems related to random construction of buildings, transportation and environment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Amman Mayor reviewed aspects of the policy that required a law for planning and organisation at the national level. Participating virtually, Adviser to UN-HABITAT Iyad Hallis outlined the various stages of the preparation of the national urban policy and its themes and outputs.
