AMMAN — The Ministry of Agriculture said that the number of foot-and-mouth infections dropped to zero for two days in a row, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The results of a report issued by a committee formed by the Animal Health Organisation indicated that the new strain of the SAT2 virus is genetically identical to the strain currently existent in Iraq and may have been transmitted in several ways, including from fodder that was imported exclusively for the Cattle Breeders Association.
Livestock markets in all governorates of Jordan will be reopened, except for Zarqa and Mafraq, on Monday, for the sale of sheep and goats, the ministry announced, adding that cow and calf markets will remain closed.
